About Spånga Gymnasium

Spånga gymnasium is a modern and safe school and was founded in 1928. The school has about 600 students.

We want our students to

  • feel safe and have a good working experience in school
  • be responsible and democratically conscious
  • develop their personality and creativity
  • gain knowledge and skills that make them well prepared for further studies in a changing society

School History

1912 Solhem got his own school and Algot Jung Nell was appointed lecturer.

1928 established a four-year higher elementary school under real-school model.

1931/32 the school became a municipal middle school which during the 1940s became the state Samrealskolan in Spånga.

1956/57 a municipal gymnasium was established and in 1964 introduced the lower secondary school.

1967 the school changed its name to Spånga Gymnasium. The combination of junior high school and high school have been retained and supplemented with low-and middle stages of Solhem School in 1988 and after-school 1991/1992.

During the 1970s, construction of school animal institution led by Owe Sandström.

1990/91 School Administration began work to be decentralized and local schools were given greater responsibility and pupils, parents and staff became more involved.

1994/1995 switched lines to high school. January 1, 1997 introduction of district councils and primary school came ten years to belong to New New-Tensta Stadsdelsnämnd while the school remained under Labour and Education.

January 1, 2009 the school was divided into two separate sections, one for years 7-9, and one for years 10-12. Each with its own Principal.
